The 1459... well, here's some weirdness for you. The
1459, introduced in the Spring /Summer 1968 catalog, was a small, plain,
two-knobbed. dual-input box that pumped out a whopping 3 watts of power. It
looked a lot like the 1420, which came along the next year, in F/W 1969. But...
there was also a 1459 that was part of the 'space-age' line of 143X amps.
Introduced:
Spring/Summer 1968 at $27.95
as the 57K1459L
Through its career, it was 57H1459L
Retired:
Spring/Summer 1969at $27.95
as the 57P1459L

Here's where things started to get ugly. And
boring. This minimally powered tube amp was the very last of the Dano
Silvertones, and was the beginning of the end of Silvertone as a Sears musical
instrument brand. There was a teeny bit of the ol' Silvertone/Dano style left in
this box... but the resemblance of this amp to a tombstone was certainly
prophetic.
