Peter Buck, the guitar player for R.E.M., signed a tiger-striped Harmony Stella for me
back in 1985, when R.E.M. was in Norfolk, VA on the 'Fables' tour. He told me it
reminded him of some of the cheap guitars he used to play. I'm figuring that
probably included a Silvertone 6-string or two along the way.
Fast forward to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction show for 2007, and what
do I see making up part of Pete's wall of sound for this performance? Yup...
Silvertone!
Just goes to show, if you're just strummin' in the spare room, or giving your
Hall of Fame acceptance performance, Silvertone is better than good
enough.
