Plerc-head. I was wondering when I'd get to say something about Paul. I've been going down this list of pics, adding these caption, and thinking 'When's a good time to talk about Paul?' Well anytime really, but this pic will serve as an anchor. Paul is a dear friend from the early 80s Norfolk music scene. He was in a band called the Probe that opened (in March of '81 I think, I may be off a bit there...) for the band I was working for: X-Raves! I thought they were great, they were just a year younger than I, but because of 18 raised to 21 drinking age grandfather clause that occured in Virginia at the time, the spread between 16 and getting into clubs and being 16 and getting into clubs NOW, with this new law in place, was a big difference. It made a big difference in the age and makeup of 'the scene.' Three years CAN be a long time. Anyway. One night on the midnite shift of my career with the Southland Corporation. I had the midnight shift at the most crime-filled area of Norfolk at the time. The corner of 38th street and Princess Anne Road. There used to be a farmer's market type egg shack drive through thingy sitting where that 7-11 still stands. Paul came in my store one night. Had to have been spring summer 84. I'll get corrected on these dates, but I'll just get this down. I remembered him from the Probe, and he told me to come see his NEW band, Waxing Poetics at Formerly Dominic's (Formerly Dominic's and soon to be future CORNER). I went.
