The Kay-built

1354 and 1356
were the first 'Aristocrat' electrics to appear on the scene, basically electrified versions of the 680/670 series of guitars, with one simple pickup near the neck, and a Volume/Tone controls situated at the bottom edge of the treble side of the guitar.

This Aristocratic duo from Kay was the first in a long-running series of well-appointed archtop electric guitars from Sears. It set the pace for the guitars to follow in all but one respect: this was the only single pickup 'Aristocrat' ever offered.
