The 1334 amp
was the middle child in the 133X line. even at less than a
hundred bucks, you got a 12 inch speaker, tremolo, 15 watts and two channels.
The instrument input had bass, treble and volume controls, while the microphone
input got a volume and tone. Seems these amps were made of a pressed hardboard
type product rather than wood. The catalog calls it 'reinforced acoustical
panel.'
Introduced:
Fall/Winter 1954 at $89.95 as model D01334L
Retired:
Spring/Summer 1957 at $94.50 as model KO1335L

Call it what you want, a tilted tone chamber, a beauty bump...
the top ridge of this series of amps certainly makes them stand out amongst
vintage amps. Of course the alligator pleather and the fake tweed helped, too.
